I need milk please, @milk_please

A new concept we were introduced to this week combines crowdsourcing with the local shop. Started last year as part of a start-up weekend in Trento, Italy, Milkplease aims to become a community of people who will help out others by doing their shopping for them.

The concept is simple yet effective. Need something but not at the shops? Place your request on the website or through the app and anyone out shopping at the time will be happy to pick it up for you and deliver it to you. All for a small fee, of course.

It’s a little leap from the supermarket retailer’s home delivery to your neighbour’s home delivery but we’re really tickled by the development of home deliveries intersected with the old-fashioned way of being real neighbours.

And as the creators say, it’s a way of getting a neighbourhood talking too!

Launching at the end of September in Milan and Berlin, Milkplease is currently looking to build their communities, so now would be the time to sign up. And while you’re at it, could you make it a pint of 2% fat milk?
